Ahh, America! My home country, and naturally, the greatest one on Earth. What, you disagree? Well tough, I don't care what foreigners think! OK, just kidding. Love you all.

Between basic traveling and a two-month road trip I took in early-mid 2002, I have visited about half of the fifty US States. I'll try to make it to all of them before I die.

Europe

Countries in Western Europe I've Visited
I've been to Europe several times, on a student trip, on my own little vacation, and for work. You can find a lot of pictures from those trips here:

Africa coming after Europe. Typical. Ethnocentric bastard.

Africa

Africa
  • Burundi - Directly after leaving Rwanda, I went to a significantly less hospitable country, Burundi. The streets are flanked by U.N. peacekeepers and the infrastructure is almost non-existent. But it does have some more beautiful scenery, especially looking out at the Congo over lake waters. It also has some of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at, and the best coffee I've ever had.
  • Rwanda - Completely denying its reputation, Rwanda has actually become a decent place to visit. It's cheap with friendly people and gorgeous scenery. We drove up to the border of the Congo, but we didn't cross out of safety concerns, even though it would have meant my shading out yet another African country on my map. The remnants of the infamous genocides can still be seen in the somewhat saddened faces of the people, but life there has gotten better. I also had the privilege of visiting Roz Carr, the last of the foreign plantation owners in the country and a veritable one-woman institution.
  • The Gambia - See that tiny little darker sliver I'm pointing to? The Gambia, named after the river it hugs, is a country many people don't even know exists. It's in West Africa, wedged inside Senegal. It's also where lots of British and Belgian women go to find um.... "boyfriends." The sea shells along its coastline are so plentiful that in places they turn into gravel under your feet. It's also the country that hosts the family of Alex Haley, the author who wrote Roots. In fact, I went on a tour and met them while I was there.
  • Ghana - During my first trip to Ghana, I mostly stayed around the capital, Accra, but did explore a little bit. If you like beach scenery, look here. I spent a weekend down at Cape Coast, and walked down the beach to find... nothing. No buildings. No people. No trash. Just me, palm trees and ocean. They also have a nice little open air night club in Accra where this old man does an excellent Sinatra impression. I took a second trip there in January of 2005 during the harmattan season, where a thin cloud of sand off the Sahara blocked out direct sunlight during my entire three-week stay.

The Middle East

Sand, sand everywhere
I've been to Kuwait twice and Saudi Arabia once, all for work. In Kuwait, I did manage to take a few pictures. In Saudi Arabia, it's illegal to take pictures of just about anything, so I didn't. And here's another thing about Saudi Arabia. The entire landscape is sand. The buildings? They're a similar beige as sand. The pictures inside the buildings? Since you can't take pictures of people, all the photos are of landscapes. And you know what the landscapes are in Saudi Arabia, right? Yeah. It gets old after a while.

In France, the wine is cheaper than Coke

India

States I visited in India
I visited Gandhidham, India, in the Kutch district of Gujarat state. Getting there was an interesting endeavor. India has one of the most beautiful cultures I've ever seen, and I want to go back to visit more of it one day. My only trip there so far was to see a friend's arranged wedding, and you can learn about that adventure at its web page.

Good Lord, stay still, will you?

Mexico

Mexico
I first went to Mexico when I was very young on a vacation with my mom and my friend, Joseph when we went to Nuevo Laredo for the day. The next time was on a trip to my uncle's house in San Diego when we hopped across the border to Tijuana. And the third time was on a business trip to Merida.

What, no Prague?

Other

I've been to a few other places not listed above, and I haven't created pretty maps for them yet:
  • Bermuda - Also for work, I spent about two weeks here. Yeah I know, poor me. But believe it or not, if you're not there on a cruise, Bermuda is a pretty boring place. It's also a pretty expensive place.
  • Belize - I was in Belize on work for a couple weeks. Nice weather. Pretty water.
  • Palau - This little island paradise is the stuff retirement planning posters are made of. Full of fat, friendly islanders, it's home to about 20,000 citizens.
  • Vietnam - Hanoi was an interesting place. One of the advantages of a police state is that you always feel totally safe. You know, it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for that pesky totalitarian communist government.
  • South Korea - I had a nice month-long stay in Seoul, a large city with even larger TV screens. There's a Starbucks on every corner and a stairwell to an underground world on every street. All in all, it was a pretty interesting city and I'd love to go back.

Settle down in one place, will ya? Jeez.

Ports of Entry

In addition to the places listed above, I've also passed through ports of entry where I never actually had time to experience their respective countries. Those are listed here!
  • Osaka, Japan
  • Tokyo, Japan
  • Brussels, Belgium
  • Dakar, Senegal
  • Lagos, Nigeria
  • Yap, Micronesia
  • Seoul, Korea
  • Nairobi, Kenya
  • Bangkok, Thailand

What, you were too lazy to leave the airport?

Continent Count

Continents Visited:
  • Africa
  • Asia
  • Europe
  • North America
Continents Remaining:
  • Antarctica
  • Australia
  • South America

Quirky lines. Everybody knows a bar is the way to go. Look at me! I'm flashy! I mean.... if you want. I don't care.
