Obsession by Tommy

Tommy, my stepdad, wrote this poem in response to the request on my wish list. It is a deep commentary on the plight of social disorders in our society. While Tommy denies allegations that it is actually a political call for more federal dollars spent on mental health, one cannot help but hear the cries of those who suffer from debilitating psychological conditions. I present to you this dark, yet poignant poem, "Obsession."

Obsession

I have a tube of toothpaste
I use it everyday.
I squeeze and squeeze and
roll it up until it goes away.

Because I am compulsive
I don't know when to stop.
I squeeze and squeeze and
roll it up until the final drop.
